Liu Bolin – Great Wall, 2010

An artist which invisibility was forced upon him as the Chinese government supressed his artisitc rights. When the art camp Suojiacun Artists’ Village was ordered to be demolished in 2005 by the Chinese government and artists prohibited from living together, the curator Zhang Zhaohui organized the exhibition Demolish! Demolish! Demolish! which over 100 artists contributed to, there amoung Liu Bolin.

From his contribution “Hidden demolition” grew many new pictures into the series “Hiding in the City”. The power of camouflage – hiding from the preditors – makes a strong but sad statement of what power an invisible voice holds.
